Sawney’s Top 10 Favorite Comedy Films

favorite comedy films

Since I haven’t posted anything on this site in a while, and I am quite fond of lists, I decided to share my top ten favorite comedy films. There are many I regretfully had to omit, but these favorite comedy films represent those that have made the most rib-tickling impression on me, in no particular order and subject to change at my whim:

It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (dir. Stanley Kramer)

Ed Wood (dir. Tim Burton)

This Is Spinal Tap (dir. Rob Reiner)

Duck Soup (dir. Leo McCarey)

Young Frankenstein (dir. Mel Brooks)

Rushmore (dir. Wes Anderson)

Harold and Maude (dir. Hal Ashby)

Local Hero (dir. Bill Forsyth)

The Blues Brothers (dir. John Landis)

Greaser’s Palace (dir. Robert Downey Sr.)

Honorable Mentions: too numerous to mention

Note: I am a big Monty Python fan, have been for years, but they get enough accolades. They would just end up using their ranking here as a coaster or doorstop.
